Kerrtown Community Center (VRDA)

Specific Need

We accept monetary donations, new unopened gifts or anything that could be used for prizes for our many free community events, Chinese auction items ,school supplies, any new children's clothes, wrapping paper, tape or gift tags, baskets that we can use to make up Chinese auction items. Every person who donates to the Kerrtown community center will have the chance to win $5-$50 in bingo gift certificates or bingo merchandise! 

Mission

We strive to provide FREE family orientated events for our community and surrounding areas.  We strive to provide children with FREE activities to keep them busy and out of trouble on the streets. We do our best to donate to our community when they are in need whether it be from a fire, illness, deployment or death. 

Profile

 We are the Kerrtown Community Center (VRDA), we are a small organization of about 40 members with about 15-20 of those being active members.  We throw a huge free community Easter egg hunt where we stuffed 18,000 plus eggs this year and gave away 12 bicycles and helmets (a boy and a girls bike and helmet in each of the six age groups). We held our free community carnival in august where we didn’t let the bad weather stop us, we still had almost 400 kids and their families throughout the day!  We hold a annual Halloween party where last year we had a 100 kids attend.  We hold a annual underprivileged kids Christmas party where last year we helped 103 children (the children get a large main gift and tons of smaller gifts, a filled Christmas stocking and a wooden toy).   Every year we take close to 100 (96 this year) kids to the shoe dept to pick out their own school shoes and bookbags. We give out school supplies, we donate to area non profits, we donate to area sports teams, we donate to area families who are in a time of need with a sick or injured family member or with a family member who has passed away.  We donate to the men’s shelter, We do families for Christmas and supply their Christmas dinner and gifts, and wrapping paper, etc. We throw funeral dinners for area families. This year we raised $11,000 to hire enough workers and helpers to bring back the summer playground program from June to August (Mon-Fri). We hold dinners to help other non profits or area groups or teams who need our help.  We sponsor free basketball clinics. We let Hog Heaven hold Cat Clinics multiple times a month for people to get their cats spade and neutered and their pets their shots.  We do all kinds of things throughout the year to help our community and every thing we do for our community is absolutely FREE to the families who come and enjoy themselves.
